The Saskatchewan Rover in another time under the grand prairie skies we set out for mighty Regina she was a boat for sure built in nineteen seven four as a ship there never was a finer she slept seven in the back seat and three in the trunk we filled her tank with purple and got drunk as a skunk floating down the road like a riverboat of old forever Saskatchewan’s Rover there was Johnny Keho from the banks of Sheho and Whitty from the county of Burnt with Randy McClerk who was plain scared stiff of work and some guy we just knew as Stone Though big and grand she was we couldn’t fit ‘em all she was bursting at the seems and filled to her hull floating down the road like a riverboat of old forever Saskatchewan’s Rover It started to rain and the wind blew insane outside grew colder and colder she started to list but then we were all pissed and seldom sober floating down the road like a riverboat of old forever Saskatchewan’s Rover pretty Sarah McCool was drunk as a rule her man became a pretty good fighter she flirted with guys and he blackened their eyes it was gonna happen on this all nighter she started to dance and soft Fred saw his chance and not with a glance he was flat on his pants floating down the road like a riverboat of old forever Saskatchewan’s Rover

Six Weeks of Summer there’s only six weeks of summer in a year and only fifty two that we’re here so raise a glass and with your hopes get outside and hit the road there’s so much to do, so much to do here’s a song that’s been waiting all winter long here’s a drink for all that you do and all that you think as we party through the night by the pallet fire light and we know it’ll soon disappear oh, there’s six weeks of summer speedin’ down the open road straight as an arrow and as fast as you go or lazin’ around in the sun too hot to move but you know this must be fun you’ve been here before it’s so familiar but it seems like a lifetime ago your heart slows down and your life speeds up and you move just as fast as the prairie winds blow here’s a song that’s been waiting all winter long here’s a drink for all that you do and all that you think as we party through the night by the pallet fire light and we know it’ll soon disappear oh, there’s six weeks of summer some take the mountains and others love the sea I look and the sky and think ‘that’s for me’ here’s a song that’s been waiting all winter long here’s a drink for all that you do and all that you think as we party through the night by the pallet fire light and we know it’ll soon disappear oh, there’s six weeks of summer

Combine the Conqueror gather round friends I’ve a tale of a man from Weyburn of the East who moved to a land built of oil via Strasbourg then Grenfell and Leask the smell of the oil refineries the penguins downtown all in rows the Calgary Tower looked down in a glower our hero shrugged off his woes now Combine was feeling nostalgic the crowns, Co-op, and the NDP he yelled, “I will change it, yes we’ll rearrange it” he’s show them the life they should lead gather round friends I’ve a tale of a man from Weyburn of the East who moved to a land built of oil via Strasbourg then Grenfell and Leask how could he find his foot soldiers who had the courage and the mite? then down at the game, the ‘riders were playing his army would wear green and white rallying the troops they marched in their boots the red mile would turn yellow and green and everyone cheered when they stopped for a beer on the grandest invasion there’d been gather round friends I’ve a tale of a man from Weyburn of the East who moved to a land built of oil via Strasbourg then Grenfell and Leask shortly before his arrival a bright young lass caught his eye a good place for a lonely young farmer so he offered to buy her a rye he sat on his chair contemplating how could he complete his task he smiled and felt dumb as he’d already won ‘cause everyone here was from Sask. gather round friends I’ve a tale of a man from Weyburn of the East who moved to a land built of oil via Strasbourg then Grenfell and Leask

The Chandelier’s Shop as I went into the chandelier’s shop, some candles for to buy I went inside the chandelier’s shop but no one could I spy no I was disappointed so angry words I said when I heard the sound of a . . . right above me head now I was quick and I was slick so up the stairs I fled and very surprised was I to find the chandelier’s wife in bed and with her was another man of quite considerable size and they were having a . . . right before my eyes now when the fun was over and done the lady raised her head and very surprised was she to find me standing by the bed if you would be discreet me boy if you would be so kind why don’t you come up for some. . . whenever you feel inclined so many the nights and many the days when the chandelier wasn’t home to get myself some candles to the chandelier’s shop I’d roam but never the ones she’d give to me, she’d give to me instead a little bit more of that . . . to light me way to bed so come all ye married men take heed whenever you go to town and if you leave your wife alone be sure to tie her down and if you’ll be so kind to her just lay her down there on the floor and give her so much of the . . . she doesn’t want any more

Surfin’ in the Fields been livin’ here a hundred years some times it seems for more used to make a good payday that’s what we all work for then one day they took it away and cancelled the Crow Rate turned around and kicked us down with something called Free Trade I ain’t gonna go you can dry me out and dust me out and leave me in the snow but when summer comes I’ll get my run and show you what we know there ain’t a better place to find the sunshine what a deal ain’t worth that much in cash and such surfin’ in the fields started with sodie and an ox cart from the train and no we weren’t the first ones here but we’re sure glad we came but it seems like every time we get things on a roll there’s BSE and subsidies that just won’t let us go I can only tell you what I know you can tariff me out and what if me out and try to take my land but when summer comes I’ll get my fun and tell you ‘bout my plan there ain’t better way to spend a day out it’s a steal it’s worth the guff and stress and stuff surfin’ in the fields those out East sure like the feast we grow but when it comes time to pay the dime we know we’re on our own and that’s just fine

Blizzard of Beer it’s cold out there but there’s a blizzard of beer inside the wind’s blowing ninety miles an hour if you go out you’ll die so I’ll stay in and hide ‘cause it’s the storm of the year but there’s a blizzard of beer inside start a fire just relax and feel free ‘cause we can’t go to work tomorrow it’s just my beer and me and I think that we can survive ‘cause it’s the storm of the year but there’s a blizzard of beer inside you can blame the weather man for the drink that’s in your hand it’s a hell of a storm the booze will keep us warm inside

The Legend of Boh on the wonderful fields of Saskatchewan the sky and the wind in my hair I has a few Bohemians the label I read it with care since ’26 we got our fix from the brewery up in PA but the market was small so it took a fall and moved Ontario’s way we marched along and we drank our share oceans of wheat we go collecting our stories of hungover glory chasing the legend of Boh here’s a case of Western pride, our traditions kicked in the dirt we’re farmers here, strong and proud but this one it really hurt Tommy and the CCF fought all those chowder heads we’ll do it again and we’re gonna win so we’re off to see the Feds we drove along and we drank our share waving to strangers “hello” our tractors in high and only clear skies chasing the legend of Boh we wound our way down the open road, like the ‘riders we gave a good fight cheering strong in third and long a city came into sight we stopped at a bar, we had come far, our tractors had kept a good speed we asked for a local brew my friend and we handed a Calgary we marched along and we drank our share oceans of wheat we go collecting our stories of hungover glory chasing the legend of Boh
